Commander Kaelen Iron-Foot

Title: Warden of the Deep-Watch
Role: Kaelen is the commander of the elite troops who patrol the deepest levels of Dal-Dur, where the city meets the natural caverns of the Underdark. He is a veteran of a hundred tunnel-wars against drow, duergar, and worse. He is a hard man who values results over protocol, and his soldiers are the most disciplined and lethal in the kingdom.

Secret Motivation: Kaelen has made a "non-aggression pact" with a local clan of duergar. In exchange for certain "rare minerals" (which he believes are just fancy rocks), the duergar help him defend the lower tunnels. He doesn't realize that the "minerals" are actually "Dragon-Bone fragments" that the duergar are using to fuel a ritual to summon an avatar of the Cinder King.

Adventure Hook: A squad of Kaelen’s men goes missing in the duergar-controlled tunnels. He can't send a rescue party without revealing his pact, so he hires the "expendable" party to find his men and "keep their mouths shut."
