Mist-Viper

Mist-Viper
The Mist-Viper is a deadly and highly elusive predator that inhabits both the upper canopy and the misty root-level of The Shrouded Boughs. These snakes can reach lengths of fifteen feet and possess a shimmering, grey-white scales that blend perfectly with the magical fog of the forest. They are silent ambush hunters, often hanging from high branches or coiled within the mangrove roots, waiting for a Briar-Kin glidist or a Mist-Whisker scavenger to pass by.
Unlike the common Canopy-Snake, the Mist-Viper has a biological connection to the forest’s magical barrier. They are capable of "inhaling" the aether-mist and then exhaling it in a concentrated burst to disorient their prey. Their venom is exceptionally potent and possesses a slight aetheric charge, making it particularly dangerous for spellcasters or those with magical equipment.
Secret Motivation: The vipers are instinctively drawn to the "Vibrations of Power." They often nest in areas where the forest’s magical barrier is being manipulated or where high-level spells are being cast, making them a serious hazard for the Mist-Weaver Coven.
Adventure Hook: A large Mist-Viper has taken up residence in the Echoing Grotto, preying on the younger shamans. High Shaman Kaelis hires the party to find and remove the viper before it can disrupt an important "Mist-Binding" ritual.
