Canopy-Snake

The Canopy-Snake is a long, slender predator that inhabits the vibrant green leaves of the upper canopy in The Shrouded Boughs. These snakes can reach lengths of twenty feet and possess a deep emerald-green coloration that makes them nearly invisible against the foliage of the Mother-Tree. They are silent and deadly ambush hunters, often hanging from high branches to strike at passing birds or Briar-Kin glidists.

Unlike the more aggressive Giant Mangrove Gulls, Canopy-Snakes are solitary and patient. They can remain motionless for days, their body temperature lowering to match the surrounding air, before striking with lightning speed. Their venom is highly potent, designed to paralyze their prey almost instantly.

Secret Motivation: The snakes are particularly attracted to the vibrations of the forest's Aetheric heartbeat. They are often found nesting near major sap-flow arteries, where the warmth and energy of the tree are strongest.

Adventure Hook: A large Canopy-Snake has taken up residence in the Golden Hive, preying on the giant beetle larvae. Beetle-Master Kael hires the party to find and remove the snake before it causes permanent damage to the city’s mount-population.
