Ranger Kael

Ranger Kael
Ranger Kael is a stoic and experienced member of the Acorn Guard, specializing in the long-range reconnaissance and tracking of forest predators. Unlike the high-flying glidists of Ardor, Kael spends most of his time on the move, living for weeks at a time among the dense foliage of the middle-canopy. He is a wiry Briar-Kin with fur that is always dusted with leaves and twigs, and he possesses an uncanny ability to move through the forest without making a sound.
Kael is a man of few words, preferring the company of the forest’s non-aggressive animals to his fellow Muridae. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of the archipelago’s flora and fauna and is often the first to notice changes in the forest’s health or the arrival of new threats. He is a master of the shortbow and is known for his ability to hit a moving target from extreme distances while hanging upside down from a branch.
While he is dedicated to the Guard, Kael is also a naturalist at heart. He maintains a detailed journal of the forest’s growth patterns and animal behaviors, which he occasionally shares with Elder Thorne for the city's archives.
Secret Motivation: Kael has secretly discovered a small, hidden grove of "Star-Flowers"—a plant believed to be extinct—that only blooms during a specific aetheric alignment. He is obsessively protective of the grove, fearing that its discovery would lead to over-harvesting by city alchemists.
Adventure Hook: Kael has tracked a group of rogue Mist-Stalkers to a hidden cavern that is not on any of his maps. He suspects the cavern is being used as a staging ground for an attack and needs a group of adventurers to help him scout the area and neutralize the threat.
