Lord Magistrate Alistair Valerius

Lord Magistrate Alistair Valerius is the senior judicial authority in the High Spire of Kigum and a prominent member of House Valerius. He is a man of severe demeanor, known for his absolute adherence to the "Code of the Saints" and his encyclopedic knowledge of Kigum’s complex legal system. Alistair is the primary arbiter of disputes between the various noble houses and the High Council, and his word is final in almost all matters of law.

He is currently the primary target of the "Iron Hand" conspiracy, as Julian believes Alistair is the only man with the legal authority and public standing to successfully challenge the military coup.

Secret Motivation: Alistair is secretly a "Silence-Seeker," a follower of an obscure sect of Saint Valerius that believes the only way to achieve true justice is to "mute the noise of the world." He has been using his position to quietly suppress information about the Void’s growing influence, believing that "ignorance is the only shield the common people have."

Adventure Hook: Alistair hires the party to act as his "Private Investigators." He has discovered that one of the High Council members has been "borrowing" ancient, forbidden scrolls from the city’s restricted archives, and he needs proof to bring a formal legal challenge against them.
