Grom Iron Jaw Hellsing

Grom "Iron-Jaw" Hellsing
Grom "Iron-Jaw" Hellsing is the infamous founder of the Gear Grinders, a mechanized mercenary company that forever changed the landscape of warfare in Aethervale. Originally a master engineer for the Ironbeard Syndicate in Steamfort, Grom was dismissed in disgrace after a catastrophic failure during a demonstration of an experimental siege engine. Unwilling to accept a quiet exile, he gathered a cadre of loyal, similarly disenfranchised mechanics and stole several prototype blueprints. Believing that innovation belonged on the battlefield rather than in dusty foundries, he established the Gear Grinders in 380 AW, offering cutting-edge mechanized violence to the highest bidder.
His moniker, "Iron-Jaw," was earned not just from his stubborn demeanor, but from a literal prosthesis. During an early, ill-fated skirmish against a rival mercenary band in the Broad Swells, Grom took a direct hit from an enchanted concussive blast that shattered the lower half of his face. He designed and installed his own replacement: a terrifying, articulated steel jaw powered by a small Aether-battery. This crude but effective surgery became a symbol of his company's ethos—that flesh is weak, but iron endures. He heavily promoted the use of crude but devastating exosuits, prioritizing shock-and-awe tactics over traditional infantry lines.
Grom's leadership style was deeply controversial, characterized by a blatant disregard for collateral damage and a ruthless pursuit of profit. He was known to accept contracts from dubious sources, including supplying heavy weaponry to criminal syndicates in Kigum and even, allegedly, outfitting pirate fleets in the Crystal Archipelago. He eventually vanished during a highly classified operation deep within the Mana Wastes. While the Gear Grinders officially list him as killed in action, persistent rumors suggest he survived and is now constructing a massive, mechanized army in the deep desert, far from the prying eyes of Steamfort and Kigum.
