Captain Elara Swiftwind

Captain Elara Swiftwind is one of the most celebrated explorers in the Aethervale merchant marine. Commanding the agile scout-ship The Zephyr's Grace, she has mapped more of the uncharted fringes of the Broad Swells than any other living captain. Known for her uncanny ability to "read" the Aether currents, she can navigate her ship through storms that would tear a heavier ironclad apart.

Elara is a woman of boundless energy and optimism, often found at the helm of her ship with a telescope in hand and a grin on her face. She has a deep respect for the natural wonders of the world and is a vocal advocate for the sustainable use of Aether, often clashing with the more exploitative scavenger guilds.

Secret Motivation: Elara is secretly a member of the Weavers, an underground group dedicated to preserving the balance of the Aether. She uses her expeditions to secretly repair "thin spots" in the veil between worlds, caused by the over-extraction of magical energy.

Adventure Hook: Elara arrives at a port with a severely damaged ship and a wild tale of a "Floating Island" hidden deep within a permanent Aether cyclone. She hires the party to help her repair The Zephyr's Grace and return to the island to document its unique flora and fauna.
