Whisper Hulks

Whisper-Hulks
Type: Corrupted Treant Threat Level: High (Magical Plague)
Whisper-Hulks are the tragic result of the "Sighing Sickness," a wild magic plague that specifically targets sentient plant life. Once proud and noble treants who guarded the Elven Enclaves, they have been warped into massive, twisted abominations of blackened wood and glowing, diseased moss. Their most terrifying feature is the "Sighing" itself—a constant, low-frequency sound emitted from their warped trunks that can cause hallucinations, paranoia, and eventually, total madness in anyone who hears it.
Whisper-Hulks roam the corrupted forests of Wyn_Dor and the edges of the Mana Wastes, attacking anything that moves with mindless, plague-driven fury. Their massive limbs can crush stone, and they can release clouds of toxic, hallucinogenic spores that further disorient their enemies. They are highly resistant to magic, as the plague has "hardened" their Aetheric structure. The only way to truly kill a Whisper-Hulk is to destroy its "Heart-Seed," a small, corrupted core located deep within its trunk.
Plot Hooks:
- The Grove of Whispers: A group of elven rangers has been trapped in a grove by a pack of Whisper-Hulks. The party must mount a rescue mission and find a way to navigate the hallucination-inducing "Sighing."
- The Plague's Origin: The party discovers that the Sighing Sickness was deliberately released by an Obsidian Scale cultist. They must find the cultist and the cure before the entire forest is corrupted.
- The Rebirth: A druid believes that a Whisper-Hulk can be "cleansed" rather than killed. She hires the party to protect her while she performs a dangerous ritual of purification on a captured Hulk.
