Aether-Blind Borer

Aether-Blind Borer
The Aether-Blind Borer is a massive, segmented invertebrate that inhabits the deepest reaches of the Aethervale's crust. Evolutionarily adapted to environments with high Aether concentrations, these creatures are completely blind, relying instead on a sophisticated sensory organ that detects the vibrations and "hum" of Aether energy.
Borers are naturally attracted to the Deep-Strands, often mistaking the glowing Aether-glass tunnels for giant veins of raw minerals. This makes them a significant threat to the Sub-Terran Accord, as a single rampaging Borer can collapse miles of tunnel in a matter of hours. The Accord often uses specialized "Aether-Lures" to lead these beasts away from critical infrastructure, or in extreme cases, deploys hunter teams to neutralize them.
The chitinous plates of an Aether-Blind Borer are highly sought after by artificers, as they possess natural resistance to magical force and can be used to create exceptionally durable armor.
Combat Tactics: A Borer typically starts an encounter by burrowing beneath its prey and erupting from the ground. It focuses its attacks on creatures carrying the most powerful magic items, as their "Aether-scent" is the most tempting.
