Battle of the Boiling Coast

Battle of the Boiling Coast (420 AW)
Overview
The Battle of the Boiling Coast in 420 AW was a legendary defensive stand that forged an unprecedented alliance between the Dwarven clans of the Deep Delves and the human settlements of the volatile coastal region. Together, they faced a massive invasion force of displaced Giantfolk seeking to claim the geothermally active lands for their own.
The Giantfolk Invasion
Driven from their ancestral mountain homes by a severe subterranean blight, a confederation of Fire and Frost Giants descended upon the Boiling Coast—a region prized for its geysers, hot springs, and rich mineral deposits. The Giantfolk, desperate and unified under a brutal warlord, sought to enslave the local human populace and construct new elemental fortresses.
The human defenders were vastly outmatched by the sheer size and elemental power of the giants. Recognizing the strategic threat—if the giants controlled the coast, they would inevitably turn their sights on the dwarven mountain holds—the Dwarven clans marched to the surface.
The Alliance of Iron and Steam
The battle was fought amidst erupting geysers and scalding mud pits. The dwarves brought their superior siege engineering, constructing rapid-deployment ballistae and deploying heavy infantry equipped with heat-resistant armor. The humans provided the vital mobility and arcane support, using the harsh terrain to outmaneuver the lumbering giants.
The turning point occurred when dwarven sappers and human evokers combined their skills to trigger a massive, controlled eruption of the coast's largest geyser network directly beneath the Giantfolk vanguard. The resulting steam explosion decimated the giants' leadership and broke their morale.
The Battle of the Boiling Coast established a long-lasting trade and military pact between the dwarves and the humans of the region, and it serves as a testament to the power of cooperation against overwhelming odds.
