The Biolume Gardens

The Biolume Gardens

The Biolume Gardens

Situated in the fertile, damp earth beneath the elven kingdom of Wyn_Dor, The Biolume Gardens are the agricultural heart of the Sub-Terran Accord. These massive, multi-tiered caverns are filled with thousands of species of bioluminescent fungi, ranging from the tiny, shimmering "Star-Dust Moss" to the towering "Glow-Cap Oaks" that reach heights of fifty feet.

The gardens provide over 80% of the food consumed by the kobolds of the Deep-Strands. The air here is humid and fragrant, filled with the spores of a thousand different plants. Unlike the industrial clatter of Alpha-Steam, the Gardens are a place of eerie silence, broken only by the soft rustle of harvesting teams and the occasional "Spore-Burst" from a ripening fungus.

Ecology and Cultivation: The kobold "Root-Singers" use a combination of diverted Aether-mists and precise temperature control to cultivate these fungi. Each level of the Gardens is tailored to a specific species: the "Deep-Purples" thrive in the colder, lower levels, while the "Sun-Golds" require the warmth found near the ceiling vents that occasionally draw air from the surface of Wyn_Dor.

Sights and Hazards:

  • The Emerald Canopy: A layer of hanging vines that glow with a brilliant green light, providing both food and structural support for the upper tiers.
  • The Spore-Mists: Thick clouds of glowing particles that can be hallucinogenic to non-kobolds if not wearing proper filtration.
  • The Mycelium Network: A biological communication system where the kobolds can "pulse" messages through the fungal roots across the entire garden complex.
