Founded by Captain "Iron-Side" Groggan following his disillusioned departure from the Steamfort Navy, the company has built an iron-clad reputation for being the most reliable protectors in the Broad Swells. Their philosophy is simple: the cargo arrives, or no one gets paid. This uncompromising adherence to their defensive contracts has made them the favorite choice for wealthy merchant consortiums and the Grand Arcane Bank when transporting high-value Aether-crystals through pirate-infested waters.

The Salt Shields' military doctrine revolves around the "Turtle-Shell" formation, utilizing a fleet of unique, heavily armored vessels. These ships, often constructed from Aether-treated oak and reinforced with thick plates of Steamfort steel, are designed to absorb immense amounts of damage while maintaining a steady, defensive position.
