Professor Alaric

Title: Chair of Draconic Archaeology
Role: Alaric is an eccentric, white-haired man who is often found buried under piles of ancient scrolls and dusty dragon bones. He is the world’s leading expert on the "Age of Ruin" and the history of the First Brood. He is widely considered a harmless crank by his peers, but his knowledge of ancient draconic magic is second to none.

Secret Motivation: Alaric has discovered that the "Cold War" between Kigum and Steamfort is actually a carefully managed conflict designed by the dragons to keep the younger races from looking too closely at the gaps in their own history. He has found evidence that the "Great Peace" was actually a period of draconic hibernation, and he believes they are about to wake up. He is trying to compile a "Dragon-Slayer’s Codex" before he is silenced.

Adventure Hook: Alaric hires the party to protect him during an "unauthorized" dig in the foundations of the Grand Arcane Bank, where he believes the "Keystone of the First Brood" is buried.
