Overseer Vorkas

Appearance

Overseer Vorkas is a massive, broad-shouldered dwarf whose body is more machine than flesh. A high-ranking executive of the Syndicate, his limbs have been replaced by heavy, industrial-grade Aether-pneumatic prosthetics. His chest hums with the dull, blue glow of an embedded Aether-core, and half of his face is covered by a riveted iron plate that serves as an augmented sensory array. He wears a heavy leather trench coat draped over a pinstripe suit, attempting to maintain the facade of a legitimate businessman.

Personality

Vorkas is brutal, pragmatic, and entirely devoid of sentiment. He views the workforce of Steamfort as expendable cogs in a massive machine that exists solely to generate profit and power. He speaks in short, barked orders, his voice artificially amplified by his cybernetics. He despises weakness and considers magic a crutch for those too lazy to build real power through industry and extortion.

Secret Motives

While he publicly serves the Syndicate's bottom line, Vorkas has secretly been indoctrinated by the Obsidian Scale. He has come to believe that the ultimate form of efficiency is undeath—a workforce that never tires, never rebels, and requires no pay. He plans to open the sealed gates of Karak-Vann not just for the lost technology, but to unleash the void-energy within, converting Steamfort's population into a perfectly compliant, immortal labor force under his absolute command.

Combat Tactics

  • Brute Force and Cybernetics: Vorkas relies on his overwhelming physical strength, enhanced by his mechanical limbs. His unarmed strikes hit like siege weapons, dealing heavy bludgeoning damage.
  • Aether Overdrive: As a bonus action, he can vent his internal core, granting himself Haste for 3 rounds but taking fire damage at the start of each of his turns as his systems overheat.
  • Environmental Control: He fights in industrial environments where he can use legendary actions to trigger steam vents, activate crushing conveyor belts, or drop heavy cargo crates on the party.
  • No Surrender: Vorkas does not retreat. If overwhelmed, he will trigger a self-destruct sequence in his Aether-core, intending to take his enemies with him in a massive, localized explosion.
