Node Attunement.While within 1 mile of a 'World-Heart' node, Theren has advantage on all saving throws and can sense the presence of any creature that is not a plant or elemental.
Magic Resistance.Theren has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.
Evasion.If Theren is subjected to an effect that allows him to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, he instead takes no damage if he succeeds, and only half damage if he fails.

Actions

Multiattack.Theren makes two attacks with his Heart-Wood Staff or two with his Longbow of the Wilds.
Heart-Wood Staff.Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage plus 14 (4d6) poison damage.
Longbow of the Wilds.Ranged Weapon Attack: +9 to hit, range 150/600 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d8 + 5) piercing damage plus 7 (2d6) force damage. If the target is a construct or uses Aetheric power, it takes an extra 7 (2d6) force damage.
Wrath of the Node (Recharge 5-6).Theren calls upon the power of the earth. Grasping vines erupt from the ground in a 20-foot radius centered on a point he can see within 60 feet. Each creature in that area must succeed on a DC 17 Strength saving throw or be restrained and take 18 (4d8) bludgeoning damage.

High Warden Theren

High Warden Theren is the ancient and stoic protector of the "World-Heart" nodes, the natural conduits of Aether that pulse within the planet's crust. An elf who has lived for centuries, Theren has seen the rise of Steamfort and Kigum with growing alarm. He views both civilizations as parasites, draining the lifeblood of the world to power their trivial machines and floating palaces.

Theren leads the Arch Wardens, a secretive order dedicated to sabotaging any operation that threatens the stability of the nodes. He is often seen at the edges of industrial expansion, a silent observer before the strikes begin. He does not seek conflict, but he is ruthless in his defense of the natural order, believing that if the nodes fail, the entire world of Aethervale will literally fall apart.

Secret Motivation: "Theren is searching for the 'Core-Seed,' a mythical artifact that can supposedly reset the world's Aetheric flow, even if it means the collapse of all current civilizations."

Adventure Hook: "A Steamfort excavation team has accidentally breached a World-Heart node, and Theren has responded by entangling the entire site in lethal magical flora. The players are sent to negotiate a ceasefire before Theren's vines reach the nearby city."
