Fortune's Lake

Fortune's Lake
Overview & Aesthetic
Fortune's Lake is a lawless, bustling frontier town located on the edge of the Shattered Plains. It is built around a large, shimmering lake that is surprisingly deep and clear, providing the region's only reliable source of water. The town is a chaotic mix of architecture—fortified merchant caravans, half-buried stone houses, and buildings made from the ribs of desert titans. The air is hot, dry, and smells of woodsmoke, roasted meat, and unwashed desert travelers.
History & Lore
The lake was discovered by a lucky prospector (hence the name) who was looking for Aether-crystals in the plains. It quickly became the primary staging ground for any expedition into the Shattered Plains or the Mana Wastes. Fortune's Lake has no official government; it is ruled by whoever has the most coin and the most hired swords. It is a place where a person can find anything—for a price—and where questions about one's past are never asked.
