The Hydro-Aether Forge

The Hydro-Aether Forge
Deep within the crushing darkness of the abyssal canyons, the Hydro-Aether Forge stands as a testament to the industrial might of the Argentari Empire. Unlike the heat-based forges of the surface-dwelling dwarves, this facility uses the immense, localized pressure of the deep ocean to compress and refine raw Aether into high-density "Tidal Crystals."
The Pressure Chambers
The heart of the forge consists of several massive, spherical chambers made of reinforced Aether-glass. Within these spheres, Argentari "Pressure-Smiths" manipulate the flow of liquid Aether using specialized harmonic tools. By focusing the weight of the entire ocean onto a single point, they can forge materials that are physically impossible to create on the surface—metals that are lighter than water yet harder than diamond.
The Silver-Skin Process
The forge is most famous for the creation of "Silver-Skin," the iconic flexible armor worn by Argentari guardians. The process involves bathing thin sheets of alchemical silver in a high-pressure Hydro-Aether stream, causing the magic to bind with the metal at a molecular level. The resulting material flows like liquid when moved slowly but hardens instantly upon impact.
Current State
Though the Argentari still maintain control over the forge, it has become increasingly difficult to operate. The shifting of the world's tectonic plates has caused several "Aether-Leaks" in the surrounding canyons, attracting dangerous lithovores and spectral entities. Despite these hazards, the forge remains one of the most productive industrial sites in the Sunken Empire, churning out the tools and weapons needed to defend their underwater realm.
