The Heart of the World-Tree

Type: Artifact (First Brood Relic) Origin: Xylira the Emerald Dreamer

The Heart of the World-Tree is a pulsating, fist-sized emerald that drips a thick, golden sap said to be the condensed essence of nature itself. It is an artifact of pure, uncorrupted Aether, capable of healing any disease, restoring blighted land, and instantly recharging even the most drained Aether-node. It is the biological and magical anchor for the entire forest of Lemmion and the source of the Enclave's legendary vitality.

Unbeknownst to the elven people, the Heart was deliberately planted within the Enclave by the Green Dragon Xylira. It is currently embedded in the chest of Matriarch Sylas Moonsong, acting as the source of her immortality and her connection to the forest. While it provides immense benefits, the Heart also acts as a beacon for Xylira's influence, allowing her to subtly guide the elven people toward isolationism and xenophobia. If the Heart were ever removed or corrupted, the entire Enclave of Lemmion would likely succumb to a rapid and catastrophic decay.

Plot Hooks:

• The Heart's Hunger: The Heart of the World-Tree has begun to demand more Aetheric energy to maintain its healing properties, causing the surrounding forest to "drain" the life-force of nearby residents. The party must find a way to sate the Heart's hunger without sacrificing innocent lives.
• The Heist of Life: An Obsidian Scale strike team attempts to steal the Heart from the Matriarch's chest during a public ceremony. The party must defend the Matriarch and prevent the artifact from falling into the cult's hands.
• The Seed of Renewal: A dying druid gives the party a "Seed" from the Heart-Tree and asks them to plant it in the center of the Mana Wastes, believing that it can eventually purify the entire region.
