Leaf-Kite

Leaf-Kite
Adventuring Gear (vehicle), uncommon
The Leaf-Kite is the primary method of high-speed travel for the Briar-Kin of The Crown City of Ardor. It is constructed from a large, reinforced leaf of the Mother-Tree, which is naturally lightweight and buoyant due to its internal air-sacs. The leaf is attached to a flexible wooden frame and equipped with several guiding-vanes and handles.
Properties
Gliding: While using a leaf-kite, you can glide at a speed of 40 feet. For every 10 feet you move horizontally, you descend 5 feet vertically. You cannot gain altitude unless you use a thermal current (at the DM's discretion).
Aerial Maneuvers: While gliding, you have advantage on Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks made to avoid obstacles or to perform aerial stunts.
Compact: A leaf-kite can be folded down into a relatively small bundle (about 3 feet long) for carrying. Unfolding it takes 1 minute.
Durability: The kite has 15 hit points and an AC of 12. If it is reduced to 0 hit points, it becomes unusable and the user begins to fall.
Special Mechanics
Launch: To use the kite, you must jump from a height of at least 20 feet. If you are a Muridae, you can launch from a height of 10 feet.
Combat Gliding: If you make a melee weapon attack while gliding, the attack deals an extra 1d6 damage on a hit, but you must succeed on a DC 13 Dexterity (Acrobatics) check or lose control of the kite and land prone.
