Background & Objective
The personal sanctum of a high-ranking chronomancer has become saturated with "Conceptual Aether." The very magic used within the tower is beginning to take physical, sentient form, making the sanctum lethal for its owner. The party must infiltrate the tower and disable the central "Loom of Fate" fragment that is causing the manifestation.
The Gimmick: Literary Manifestation
Spells cast within the sanctum take physical form. A Fireball leaves behind a "Burning Sprite" that continues to attack; a Cure Wounds creates a "Healing Wisp" that can be intercepted or destroyed by enemies.
Tactical Combat & Challenges
- Living Grimoire: A showdown with a massive book golem that "reads" the players' character sheets to use their own class features, resistances, and tactics against them.
- Volatile Atmosphere: Every spell cast increases the density of the Aether, potentially triggering wild magic surges.
Narrative Outcomes & Loot
- Success: The sanctum is cleared, and the party is granted access to high-tier Aether research.
- Huge Throbbing Treasure: Aurelius’s Ledger Fragment. A single page from the Loom of Fate that grants the reader a +2 permanent bonus to Insight. Includes a pouch of 10 "Refined Aether-Diamonds" (1,000 GP each).
