The Aether-Flux Sewers

The Aether-Flux Sewers
Location: Kigum (Sub-levels) Level Range: 5-7
Background & Objective
The lower levels of Kigum are built upon ancient conduits that have begun to leak liquid Aether waste. This "sewage" is highly volatile and has attracted sentient slimes that are beginning to mimic the spells cast by the city's surface-dwelling mages. The party is hired to venture into the sewers, clear the infestation, and repair a major pressure valve.
The Gimmick: Magical Buoyancy
The liquid Aether waste in the sewers grants a "Fly" speed to anything stepping in it, but also deals 1d6 force damage per turn. Furthermore, the air is thick with "Arcane Methane" that will cause a massive explosion if fire-based magic is utilized.
Tactical Combat & Challenges
- Ooze-Magi: Sentient, magical slimes that can cast low-level spells and are strengthened by the liquid Aether.
- Environmental Hazards: Players must balance the high mobility granted by the Aether with the risk of corruption and environmental detonation.
Narrative Outcomes & Loot
- Success: The sewage leak is stopped, preventing a city-wide magical blackout.
- Huge Throbbing Treasure: The Sewer King's Signet. Grants resistance to acid and poison damage. Tucked away in a rusted pipe is a cache of 4,000 GP and a Staff of Charming.
